JIARI operates a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and integrity of published research. Author identities are concealed from reviewers and reviewer identities are concealed from authors.
Peer Review Process
- Manuscript submission – Authors submit via the journal submission system or designated email.
- Editorial screening – The editorial office checks completeness, formatting, scope fit, and basic quality.
- Plagiarism / similarity screening – Manuscripts may be screened using similarity-detection tools.
- Scope and suitability assessment – An editor confirms that the manuscript falls within the journal’s aims and scope.
- Reviewer assignment – Normally two independent expert reviewers are invited. Additional reviewers may be used when needed.
- Double-blind review – Reviewers evaluate the manuscript without knowledge of author identities.
- Reviewer reports – Reviewers provide structured comments and a recommendation.
- Editorial decision – The handling editor or Editor-in-Chief issues one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
- Revision – Authors revise the manuscript and submit a point-by-point response when revisions are requested.
- Final acceptance – After satisfactory revision (and possible re-review), the manuscript is accepted.
- Copyediting and production – Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and formatting.
- Publication – The article is published online in the relevant issue.
- DOI registration – A DOI will be assigned through Crossref after registration (when available).
Reviewer Selection
- Reviewers are selected on the basis of subject expertise, publication record, and absence of conflicts of interest.
- Wherever possible, reviewers are independent of the authors’ institutions.
- Reviewers must decline invitations when they have a conflict of interest or lack the necessary expertise.
Review Criteria
Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts on:
- Originality and novelty of the contribution
- Soundness of methodology and analysis
- Clarity of presentation and structure
- Adequacy of literature review and citation of prior work
- Significance and relevance to the field
- Ethical standards and research integrity
Confidentiality
All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or use the content for personal advantage. Identities of authors and reviewers remain protected under the double-blind system.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest (personal, professional, financial, or institutional) and recuse themselves when appropriate. Editors handling a manuscript will also recuse themselves from decisions involving personal or institutional conflicts.
Typical Timeline
While timelines vary, JIARI aims for:
- Initial editorial screening: within 1–2 weeks of submission
- First-round peer review: typically 4–8 weeks after reviewers accept the invitation
- Decision after revision: as promptly as possible after receipt of the revised manuscript
Authors are notified of delays when they occur.
Appeals
Authors who believe a decision was based on a misunderstanding or factual error may submit a reasoned appeal to the editorial office. Appeals are considered by an editor not involved in the original decision. The outcome of an appeal is final.
Reviewer Recognition
JIARI values the contribution of peer reviewers. Reviewers may request confirmation of their service for professional records.
